About La Isla Coffee
La Isla coffee comes from the farm of the same name, founded in 2017 by the Jiménez and Padilla families, who have been growing coffee for over three generations. The farm is located in Lourdes de Naranjo, in Costa Rica’s Western Valley—an area renowned for producing high-quality specialty coffee.
The farm covers a total of 12 hectares, with 9 hectares dedicated to coffee cultivation and 3 hectares preserved as forest and conservation land. It sits at an altitude of 1,560 meters above sea level.
The region’s climate provides ideal conditions for coffee cultivation: an average temperature of around 22°C, annual rainfall between 2,000 and 2,200 mm, and mineral-rich volcanic soils that promote slow and even cherry maturation.
The farm grows a diverse range of Arabica varieties, including SL-28, Geisha, Catiguá MG2, Obata, Villa Sarchí, Anacafé 14, as well as Ethiopian and Yemeni varieties.
Production follows strict quality standards: cherries are handpicked at peak ripeness and primarily processed using honey and natural methods. These approaches enhance sweetness, aromatic complexity, and clarity in the cup.
In 2024, La Isla farm placed 6th in the Cup of Excellence Costa Rica competition, confirming its reputation as a producer of world-class coffee.
