This lot originates from plantations in the Yirgacheffe district, located in the heart of the Gedeo Zone in southwestern Ethiopia. The region is renowned for producing exceptional coffee, thanks to its warm tropical climate, fertile soils, and high altitudes exceeding 2,000 meters. At such elevations, the coffee is classified as Strictly High Grown (SHG) or Strictly Hard Bean (SHB). This means the coffee cherries ripen more slowly, giving the trees more time to absorb nutrients and develop complex, vibrant flavor profiles. As is the case in most Ethiopian regions, the market in Gedeo is driven by smallholder farmers; over 25,000 producers cultivate coffee on plots ranging from 0.5 to 2 hectares. The region's climate is shaped by both equatorial and monsoon trade winds, resulting in a bimodal rainfall pattern. A short rainy season lasts from March to May, followed by a brief dry spell before the main rains arrive from July to December. Average monthly temperatures range from 20–23°C, with annual rainfall totaling 1,800–2,000 mm. The soils are loamy with excellent drainage, creating ideal conditions for growing specialty coffee. Boledu Coffee is a certified exporter and operator of its own processing stations in the Yirgacheffe (Konga, Gedeb, Aricha) and Guji regions of Ethiopia. The company integrates the entire supply chain—from smallholder farmers to export—ensuring transparent traceability and organic certification. Founded in 2018 by Abiot Ageze and Mebrahtu Aynalem, the company focuses on sustainability and farmer training to ensure high-quality, fully traceable coffee. It works closely with small-scale growers; the Halo Beriti Washing Station partners with approximately 1,250 smallholder farmers who harvest coffee at altitudes of 1,900–2,200 meters above sea level. Notable achievements and quality standards include repeated success in local and international competitions, such as the 2021 Cup of Excellence and multiple awards from Golden Bean Australia. ‎
