Jane Wanjiku Kiriri - Kamau is the founder and farmer of WanRich Coffee, a small family-owned coffee farm located in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, in western Kenya. After many years of working in the banking sector, in 2015 Jane began growing specialty coffee, completely shifting the farm’s focus from maize and livestock to coffee production. ‎

Her farm sits at an elevation of 1,800 meters above sea level, on fertile volcanic soils on the western slopes of Mount Elgon — a region with consistent rainfall and a favorable microclimate. The terroir of Kitale combines high altitude, volcanic soils, and a mild climate (with temperatures rarely exceeding 28 °C), which ensures slow cherry maturation and vibrant acidity. ‎

The farm cultivates Kenya’s leading Arabica varieties — SL28, SL34, Batian, and Ruiru — often grafted together to combine disease resistance with excellent cup quality. Jane follows fully organic farming practices, avoiding pesticides, using manual weeding, and applying seasonal foliar organic fertilizers. Her agronomic practices are supported by specialists from the Coffee Research Institute (Kenya). ‎

Beyond coffee quality, Jane’s work has a significant social impact: she provides stable employment for local workers and serves on the board of NORT, a women’s group working to establish a central coffee processing station for farmers in the region. ‎
