This coffee comes from small farms in the Colombian department of Chaparral, near the Canyon de las Hermosas, which is the southern part of the municipality of Tolima. Located in the valley of the Magdalena River in the heart of the Andes, this area is characterized by a large number of lakes, a variety of geographical landscapes and climatic conditions. Thanks to the river, the region is one of the main centers for the cultivation of high-quality coffee, cotton and rice.
The local authorities limit the use of chemical fertilizers in the region. On loamy and sandy soils, local farmers cultivate mainly the varieties Colombia, Castilo ra Caturra.
Tolima has long been the epicenter of armed conflicts, so the population density here is quite low. But recently the situation has been improving, more and more farmers are appearing, and the region currently ranks 3rd in Colombia in terms of coffee production.
