This coffee comes from the Colombian region of Huila, located in the Magdalena Valley, between the mighty Andes mountain ranges. Coffee from here is known for its unique flavor profile with bright acidity, medium strength, sweet and fruity taste. This is facilitated by high altitudes, nitrogen-enriched volcanic soils, frequent flowering periods and weather conditions. The local climate is characterized by slight fluctuations between day and night temperatures with a year-round distribution of precipitation. A high level of humidity also creates special conditions for processing. ‎

The region is famous for a significant number of Cup of Excellence winning lots and has Denomination of Origin status. The Central Cooperative of Huila Coffee Growers - COOCENTRAL - is a non-profit association that unites about 3,128 members in the municipalities of Garzón, Gigante, Agrado, Pital, Tarqui, Suaza and Guadalupe. It began its operations in 1975 by providing services such as the purchase of coffee and the sale of agro-industrial resources. ‎

Coocentral has now grown into a large industrial coffee hub with the country's largest drying station, separate industrial-scale and micro-lot grain processing equipment, warehouses, and a quality laboratory. They provide loans, technical services, have their own roastery, coffee shops and a hotel. In 2007, Coocentral created the Fundecafe initiative to manage resources and seek partnerships with government and international institutions, as well as to develop various social programs. Among the latter are the Women Coffee Growers Program or the Coocentral Housing Improvement Program. ‎
