Sebastian Ramírez, a native of the department of Quindio, known for its extensive coffee culture, is the representative of the fourth generation of the family coffee business. ‎

Six years ago, Sebastian had to take over the management of the farm because of the unexpected and sharp turns that sometimes happen in life. He was in his seventh semester of law school when he had to devote himself to his father's farm. El Placer Farm is located in the village of Buenos Aires de Calarca. "We had forty blocks on the farm, a lot of coffee and more than seventy workers. It was not enough for us, it is very difficult to live in Colombia earning from coffee"... I heard something about special coffee in Armenia, and one day I came to a coffee shop Alma Café, where I met an instructor from SENA who talked about capping, which sparked my interest in this topic. ‎

"I studied, I was taught, and thanks to love and perseverance I did everything - possible and impossible. You can say that Sebastian has dedicated his whole life to coffee, and he proudly admits it... "A personal decision that forced life to me and which eventually became my greatest joy. I'll tell you what we did: we rented out half of the farm. Another solution is to grow specialty coffee of various varieties. Bananas and plantains also grow. And of course there is other coffee that we sell to local companies." ‎

Some of the coffee producers are looking for other business alternatives unrelated to this topic or others that have the opportunity to involve them in the coffee experience; in this case, Sebastian reflects... "We came a year ago to discover the most beautiful thing of all, or so we thought. We had a huge house, three hundred and fifty years old, with an endless number of empty rooms. In In this uncertain future, full of financial speculation, we have taken a step forward, not just to produce, but to create a complete experience for the consumer. Now we have a hostel , and tourists discover our reality for a few hours.” Currently, Sebastian is one of Colombia's most distinguished specialty coffee producers, but he continues to push forward producing great specialty coffees for El Placer to raise the bar even higher.
