The coffee for this blend was harvested on farms in the municipality of SanPedro de Tutule, La Paz department (Montecillos coffee region) in the southwestern part of Honduras near the Montecillos reserve. The Lenca indigenous people call this area "place of stone" because of the rugged terrain with dense jungle cover. La Paz has clay loam soils and a temperate climate.
The coffee trees here receive less daylight, so they bear fruit in smaller quantities, but with better quality. They mostly grow in the shade next to banana palms. Montecillos became the first area in Honduras to receive the status of a Denomination of Origin: Café de Marcala Tutule Regional HONDURAS CafeVilla Florida (Caviflor) is a coffee exporter founded 40 years ago in Marcala,
