This bean comes from the Guji zone of the southern Oromia region, which is considered the birthplace of coffee. It has ideal conditions for growing Arabica: high altitude (over 1,500 m); rich, well-drained (mainly volcanic) soils that hardly require additional fertilizers; highland tropical climate with 1,500–2,500 mm of rainfall over a nine-month period and optimum temperatures between 15 and 24°C.
Over the past 60 years, rapid commercial and cultural development has transformed Guji into a unique coffee area that has become a separate administrative unit since 2002. Coffee from here represents a characteristic terroir that distinguishes it from other beans of the Oromia region.
The Sewda processing plant was established in Benti Korba village in Shakiso district in 2018 by the trading company Testi. The station is located at an altitude of 1850 - 2100 m.a.s.l. and serves about 500 farmers in the region. It has NOP and EOS Organic certificates.
