Donaldo Gonzalez Fiallos is a fourth-generation coffee producer. He was born in the capital of Honduras, but on weekends the family always went to the city of Corquín, where his grandparents lived, and where young Donaldo fell madly in love and dreamed of returning. After graduating from the Agricultural University of El Zamorano, Donaldo returns to Corquín and
begins a career in the agricultural field.
In 2006, he was one of the 14 farmers who founded the Aruco cooperative, and is currently its CEO. Donaldo was one of the first to implement new ideas in the management of coffee growing processes in Honduras. In 2013, Aruco started
a micro-lot program aimed at the production of high-quality coffee varieties. Now the cooperative has more than 200 producer partners.
Aruco provides all members of the cooperative with technical assistance, financing and marketing of green grain at the international level. This approach ensures high labor productivity and environmental sustainability in production, and also contributes
comprehensive development of families in the region. In addition, Aruco supports local educational and social projects, health care centers.
The cooperative has its own processing station, equipped with modular sections for washing processing and drying. Environmental equipment is used in the fermentation process, which minimizes water consumption, and hot air for drying the grain is obtained by burning coffee husks in special ovens.
After picking, the berries are washed and cleaned of floaters. The ripest and highest-quality cherries are sent to the patio, where they are spread evenly for drying, regularly mixed and calibrated. Special sheds are used for drying by land - the so-called "African beds".
